Services to Local and Overseas Workers and Dependents
As a service to our seaferers and their families, SMS extends Payroll Assistance
Services to relieve the seafarer of the burden of worrying about their individual
salary remittance. Emergency Loan Assitance is available to the seafarer dependents
through Multi-Savings & Loan Association, Inc. (MULTISLA), a credit cooperative
established by our local employees, seafarers of SMS and the overseas workers of
SMS sister company. MULTISLA was given a special Citation by POEA for its exemplary
welfare and program in the area of Socio-Economic Reintegration. Medicare and Social
security system benefits are likewise provided. Guidance and counseling services
to the dependents of the seafarers are freely provided by the able staff
of SMS.
Communication facilities are always on hand at the SMS office. Email/Fax machines
are made available to the seafarers dependents on emergency cases.
A comprehensive in-house PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION SEMINAR is given to all departing
seafarer for familirization of employment terms and conditions and the work environment
as required and approved by POEA.
